Entrance to the Paramedic Academy requires candidates to complete course work in Anatomy & Physiology, and basic arrhythmia.

The minimum requirement for A&P is ANAT40. It is a one semester class, which includes a lab. The minimum requirement for basic arrhythmia is EMC114, which is a 30 hour class.

If you have not completed these Paramedic Academy requirements at the time of application, you must submit proof of enrollment showing that these requirements are in progress and capable of being completed prior to the start of the academy.

If you are unable to enroll in EMC 114 or ANAT 40 at Santa Rosa Junior College, or an equivalent accredited college course, there are online classes that have been approved in the past as equivalencies by the Paramedic Academy Director. You can review the course outline by clicking on EMC 114 or ANAT 40. Any course you complete must meet the requirements of these courses in order to be considered for equivalency.

Please note that these courses will not be converted into college credits that can be used toward a degree. They will merely meet the prerequisite requirements to participate in the Paramedic Academy. There might be other online classes that are similar in scope and topics. We are not endorsing any specific online courses, only sharing information about those that have been accepted in the past.

Examples of online courses that meet the minimum requirements include, but are not limited to:
