Ken Sebastiani serves as the Director of the Fire Technology Program.  He started his Fire Service career in 1988 as a reserve Firefighter in the city of Brisbane, CA. After serving one year as a Firefighter at Alameda Naval Air Station and for one year as a Firefighter at the Monterey Fire Department, he was hired by the Santa Rosa Fire Department in 1991.  During his tenure with Santa Rosa, he served as Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Training Captain, Division Chief of Training, Safety and Special Operations and Battalion Chief, retiring in 2019.  While in Santa Rosa, he was assigned as a Rescue Specialist and Heavy Rigger with FEMA/USAR, California Task Force 4 from 2003 to 2012.  He has served as Adjunct Faculty for SRJC from 1995 to 2019 and as a member of the Fire Advisory Committee from 2004 to 2010, when he was selected as the Chairman and he held that position until 2019.  In addition to Associate of Science degrees from College of San Mateo and Skyline College, he possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Management from St. Mary’s College and a Master’s of Science degree in Emergency Services Administration from Cal State University Long Beach.  He is also a state certified Chief Officer, Company Officer, Safety Officer, Instructor III, Lead Skills Evaluator, Hazardous Material Technician and Hazmat Incident Commander.
