Steven began his professional law enforcement career in May of 2000 serving as California Highway Patrol officer for more than five years in the San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma County areas. In 2005, he came home to the Santa Rosa Junior College (where he first served as a student police cadet from 1994-1997) to serve as a police officer for the SRJC District Police Department. In 2012 Steven promoted to Police Sergeant and held that title until his retirement from law enforcement in 2020. He has served as an FTO Sergeant, department training manager, and is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (SBSLI).
Shortly after retirement, Steven was selected to serve as the BPA Coordinator in May of 2020 and served in that role for three years. Steven is a proud graduate of Santa Rosa Junior College, holding an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences, along with a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Criminal Justice Management, and a Master’s Degree in Crisis and Trauma Response Counseling. Steven and his wife Tanya have three children and are life-long residents of Sonoma County where they are actively engaged in numerous community activities (including Tanya as an elected City Council Woman for the Town of Windsor). Steven and Tanya are active in the Sonoma County Foster Care community as an emergency resource family.
